Craig Berube Reveals Matthews and Marner's Status for Maple Leafs Next Back-to-Back Games
Craig Berube shared an update on whether Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner will be returning to the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup for their next game Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Marner and
Matthews are both expected to return back to Toronto after the two go head-to-head for the final matchup of the Four Nations between Marner's Canada and Matthews' USA, a game that has become one of the most hyped hockey matchups in years.
In what is expected to be an intense battle between two hockey nations for hockey supremacy amid recent tensions, Berube says the goal is for the two stars' fight to be quickly amended by the time they return.
Craig Berube Outlines Lineups For Next Game
Berube has confirmed that the plan is to have both Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner available for Saturday's game against Carolina.
As of right now they're playing. These are big games.
These games are intense & playing in a game like this is very good for them both.
Only one of them is going to win, but it's just getting a taste of what it's like. - Craig Berube
If one or both of Matthews & Marner are not active for the Leafs next game, they would most likely be activated for Toronto's road trip starting with the game a day later on Sunday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Once Auston Matthews & Mitch Marner go from intense national rivals to teammates, it will be one shift that immediately turns on the switch to have the two go back to working towards the cause of winning a Stanley Cup, although with only one taking home bragging rights of a win in the jersey of their country.
