After the Leafs had another disappointing exit from the post-season this year, it was clear that there was going to be a shakeup. The first major trigger to be pulled was the firing of Head Coach Sheldon Keefe, who made it less than a week after the game 7 loss.
After much speculation on who the next Leafs head coach would be, insiders broke the news today that they have hired Craig Berube, a highly sought-after coach in the market. The Toronto Maple Leafs officially confirmed the selection with a post on social media.
A press conference is being held on Tuesday to introduce Berube to the market, however, some details of his contract were revealed today as well. Insider Pierre LeBrun stated that the Leafs signed Berube for a 4-year deal.
The expectations for what Berube can do are high, especially with his pedigree. He brought the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup championship, their first since 1967, which is almost too poetic for the new Leafs leader.
It will be interesting to see what the culture shift in Toronto is starting next season.
