The Toronto Maple Leafs promised changes on their coaching staff this off-season, and just a week after announcing Craig Berube, they've seen another big change.
Manny Malhotra spent three years as a coach within the Vancouver Canucks organization, before ultimately landing with the Maple Leafs as an assistant back in 2020. Now, the young coach has officially returned to where his coaching career began, as he has now accepted a role as the Head Coach of the Canucks AHL affiliate the Abbotsford Canucks.
This comes after the team announced Craig Berube as the new Head Coach, and with changes expected, it's no shock that we've already seen one massive departure for the Leafs. It's expected that they will add former Flames coach Marc Savard in the coming weeks, but for now, Malhotra bids farewell to the Maple Leafs organization;
During the 2023-24 season, Malhotra worked in many areas including power play, penalty kill and faceoffs, but at 44-years of age he was ready to take the step to Head Coach, and now he's officially got that opportunity.
