The Boston Bruins confirmed that the veteran James Van Riemsdyk will be in the lineup for tonight's game against his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Van Riemsdyk, who played six seasons for the Leafs between 2012 and 2018, is set to play his first playoff game with the Bruins tonight.
Boston's head coach Jim Montgomery decided to scratch him for the first two games of the series, but after a tough 3-2 loss in game two, it looks like he wants to shake things up. Adding a former Leaf to the lineup who has a lot of experience and leadership could give a boost in team morale.
Fluto Shinzawa, a writer for The Athletic, confirmed the news on X, while adding that both Parker Wotherspoon and Mason Lohrei should play.
"Looks like James van Riemsdyk, Mason Lohrei, and Parker Wotherspoon are in. Jakub Lauko and Matt Grzelcyk are out. Andrew Peeke is unavailable."
