Leafs GM Brad Treliving has addressed the future of superstars William Nylander and Auston Matthews in a recent interview with the media.
Treliving Addresses Star Player's Futures
Today, Brad Treliving addressed the future of two of the core four.
Treliving is anticipating retaining both players this offseason and extending them barring anything unforeseen.
This should let Leafs fans rest easy knowing the plan is to retain both stars.
Nylander will look to build off his 87-point career year while Matthews will look to bounce back from his 85-point year.
Matthews will almost certainly get an extension but Nylander is not as easy.
Nylander's demands are upwards of $9 million and if he does not budge, we could watch Nylander get shipped off to a team that will pay him.
Treliving Learning From Previous Mistakes
Nylander's agent is also the agent of Johnny Gaudreau who burned the Flames last offseason and Treliving has said he wants to make sure that does not happen again.
