The Leafs will be entering this offseason looking to bolster their team.
Players such as William Nylander and Auston Matthews will be looking for new contracts and if they cannot work something out, the Leafs may trade one of them.
NHL insider Pierre LeBrun just announced that the Leafs are linked to a top defenseman.
Erik Karlsson would be a massive addition for the Leafs.
He returned to prime form this past year and won the Norris Trophy after scoring 101 points as a defenseman.
Karlsson also outscored his next-closest teammate by 34 points which shows how much of a factor he was for the Sharks.
The details of what would go back are unknown but we can speculate on a potential return for the Norris winner.
