Auston Matthews to Toronto media on Mitch Marner questions: 'I've had enough'
Auston Matthews says he's tired of hearing about former Toronto Maple Leaf Mitch Marner in a tense interview.
Leafs captain Auston Matthews made clear that he's done with questions from the media regarding Mitch Marner, and is ready to move on from discussing his former teammate.
Matthews was asked by TSN's Mark Masters prior to Thursday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights, Marner's current team, in the lead-up to the game's start about a moment between the two.
Marner continued a tradition from the Leafs of passing a puck along to Matthews at the end of warm-ups, with Matthews not acknowledging it.
Asked about the moment specifically, Matthews said he wasn't looking directly at Marner and didn't see it, and said bluntly that he was tired of being asked about Marner.
I didn't look over, I don't know, I think I've had enough of the Mitch questions for the day, Mark.

Marner was asked after the game by Masters about the moment with the puck, not discussing the specific moment but saying that Matthews is a friend.
Auston Matthews focusing on the future, not on past
While Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner are not speaking negatively on one another, the moment has evidently sparked discussion over some potential difficult feelings from Marner's exit.
Marner indicated as well that he's focused on his new team, although he admitted it was weird being on the other side of the ice against Toronto after nine seasons.
Matthews is focusing on the Leafs and putting the continuous discussion regarding Marner to rest, at least from his end, something that the Leafs may have to continue hearing about as Toronto's media will build things up for a couple of days.
Toronto won't be able to escape Marner and the Golden Knights just yet, as it will be in a week that the Leafs see Vegas again, this time being in Toronto where the discussion will focus to what will be a hectic return for Marner.
For the Leafs in regards to last night, a 6-5 overtime loss, is just another game out of 82, but quietly understood as a step towards their new identity.
