Auston Matthews silenced a reporter and makes a spoke up on the Montreal Canadiens's fans after being booed all night at the Bell Center.
Montreal is one of the biggest market in the NHL, and there's a simple reason for that: the fans are extremely passionate. Whenever a top player or a former Habs plays in the Bell Center, fans usually boo them whenever they touch the puck. For many of them, it's a form of respect, of recognition of the players' great talent, or impact he had in Montreal.
Last night was no different. Each time Auston Matthews or Max Domi had the puck, fans booed.
Many reporters covering the Leafs didn't like the fans' hostility and it was widely criticized in Toronto's papers.
After the game, Matthews shared his thoughts, and surprisingly, he liked it:
Auston Matthews on being booed in Montreal tonight:
"Honestly, I kind of find it like a tone of respect, I guess, especially in a building like this and a big time hockey city and fan base. So, I don't mind (smile). I don't mind at all."

Matthews understands that in Montreal, if you can have an impact in a game against the Canadiens, fans will try to distract you by booing.

His comment shows a lot of maturity. Let's hope he can bring that same level of intensity and focus going into the playoffs.
