On July 28th, the AHL Toronto Marlies announced that they had signed Alex Nylander to a one-year contract. Alex is only 26 and has a lot of years ahead of him to play still, and he will no doubt look to impress his brother William. Alex played last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Penguins only made Alex play five games, where he got no points, before they traded him to Columbus. Alex had much better numbers playing with the Blue Jackets, as he collected 15 points in 23 games.
The Nylander signing within the Leafs organization came only a few weeks after William made a post on Instagram of him and his brother working out together in the gym. That got people speculating that William was hinting at management to sign his brother, and it appears that it all paid off, as that is exactly what happened.
Alex has some big shoes to follow in, as his brother William tore it up for the Leafs last season, coming only two points shy of 100 in all of his team's 82 games that he played.
