Alex Mogilny appeared in a pre-recorded video on Monday as part of his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Keeping a low profile since retiring, Mogilny did not attend the ceremony in person and instead submitted his speech remotely; not making the trip to Toronto, but made sure to give his thanks and gratitude for all who helped his NHL career:
Taking part in this exciting event with the other inductees, I am overwhelmed with gratitude not just for this honor, but for the journey that got me here.

What an incredible journey it was. My greatest hope is that my story might inspire another kid from a small Russian town to dream big, just as I was inspired by legends.

This honor is not mine alone, it belongs to everyone who believed in me along the way.
Mogilny, 56, entered the league under uncommon circumstances in the 1989-90 season, when he defected from the then-Soviet Union and decided to play in North America.
His rookie season was solid, but it was in 1992-93 where he posted 76 goals and 127 points, it helped shape a career that finished with 1,032 points in 990 games, and a Stanley Cup in 1999-2000; Mogilny played with Buffalo, Vancouver, Toronto and New Jersey throughout his career.
He ranks fourth among Russian-born players in NHL career points though that will likely be surpassed by Nikita Kucherov at some point this season who has 1,008 points already.

What Mogilny's appearance means after two decades away

Mogilny rarely appears publicly, and his remarks were delivered through a recorded message, stating in his remarks:
I don't like wake-up calls, and when I saw the 416 area code, I wasn't sure. But that beautiful voice that I wanted to hear for so long said 'Hello Alex,' I knew something special happened.

No additional information was provided regarding future public appearances. The fact he decided to step back into the public eye one more time after maintaining a low public profile since retiring shows that exceptions can be made.
