The Maple Leafs have dealt with some tough injuries already this season, so when Timothy Liljegren left their last game with an upper body injury, there wasn't a good feeling around the team.

A positive update

Thankfully, it appears all is well with the young defenseman, as Liljegren was back on the ice at their latest practice, seemingly ready for their next matchup on Tuesday night.

"We didn't know how that one was going to go," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said of Liljegren's initial status. "It settled down pretty quickly and it became more of a muscle spasm situation than damage done."

A return to normal

Unsurprisingly, it looks like the Leafs are ready to get him back in the lineup immediately against the Kings, as they look to continue their solid 5-2-1 start to the 2023-24 season.

Tuesday's practice saw Liljegren back on the second pairing alongside veteran Mark Giordano, and while some thought he may miss some time with the injury, this is a testament to his toughness, something this Leafs team definitely needs, so this is a great sign all around.
