Tonight's game against the Florida Panthers will make or break the Maple Leafs season. A loss means they'll be eliminated from the playoffs, and Florida will have completed the sweep. A win means that they live to fight another day, but will still be down 3-1 in the series. Toronto is in their current position due to a lack of production from their star forwards, but head coach Sheldon Keefe begs to differ.
Keefe Sticks Up for His Guys
Sheldon Keefe was questioned ahead of game four about the production of his star talent (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, and O'Reilly). Keefe clearly didn't appreciate the notion that those guys weren't pulling their own weight, and snapped back at the reporter.
«The production and performance of these guys that we're talking about and questioning, they're the reason why we're here, why we're even playing when there's only eight teams left.» - Sheldon Keefe
Sticking up for your players as a coach is one thing, but when you blatantly ignore the lack of production from the guys you over 10 million dollars a year, it's willful ignorance. Hopefully Keefe knows something we all don't.
