Sheldon Keefe Delivers Epic Mic Drop Response to Critics with a Remarkably Cool Quote
Sheldon Keefe just delivered an insane mic drop to all of his critics delivering this quote that hits home.
Leafs Criticised For Lack of Regulation Wins So Far This Season
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having one of the most unique seasons in NHL history, with just 5 regulation wins. Even more, they have only had 2 regulation wins in the last 14 games, only one of those coming with a mult-goal win.
Leafs now at just two regulation wins and one multi-goal win in their last 14 games
Leafs finished November with a 7-3-2 record, but just two regulation wins. 7 of 12 games went to OT, and they went 5-2 in 3v3/SO.
Only multi-goal win was vs. VAN on 11/11 (5-2) and they had a -1 goal difference.
Bank points where you can, but probably not a laurel to rest on.
They have been widely criticised for getting lucky in these wins, and their season could look a lot different if they ended up losing those games. Of course, in Toronto, they have been questioned about this a lot.
Sheldon Keefe Delivers Epic Response to Regulation Wins Question
After another shootout victory on Thursday night, Sheldon Keefe was asked again about letting go of a lead and not closing it out in regulation. His response cut right to the chase.
"There's 23 teams below us in the standings right now and we haven't played our best hockey."
Keefe is right, in the end all that matters is making the playoffs. However, the Leafs do need to get better in regulation if they want to make a push in the playoffs. It is unlikely that this sort of success will translate to the playoffs, especially as there is a different overtime structure in the post season.
