Sheldon Keefe Buries William Nylander During Post-Game Press Conference
It was not the best night for most of the Leafs' big guns last night, specifically William Nylander and Sheldon Keefe let him know about it after the game.
Sheldon Keefe Calls Out Nylander During Post-Game Scrum
The Leafs didn't come out with their best game last night against the Colorado Avalanche, and it showed in the second and third periods. Specifically, the Nyladner, Tavares, and Bertuzzi line was noticeably off. Sheldon Keefe made a point of this after the game during his press conference, calling out Nylander by name.
"I just thought putting our best people together and going best on best gave us a chance to keep the puck away from those guys a little bit more," admitted Keefe. "At the same time trying to get more out of Willy cause Willy on his line was not good."
All eyes are on Nylander since he signed his massive deal with the Leafs, and the expectations have skyrocketed. He has 57 points in 40 games played so far on the year but hasn't registered a point in the last two games.
Nylander Not the Only one to be Punished For Performance
Nylander wasn't the sole reason for the loss, as the Leafs were bad all around the ice. Specifically, Tyler Bertuzzi didn't see much ice time in the third period due to his lacklustre performance as well.
Nylander and Bertuzzi will both have the opportunity to bounce back as they play the latter part of their back-to-back against the Detroit Red Wings. Nylander looks to break his scoreless streak in the last two games, uncharacteristic for him this season.
