NHL Insider Confirms New Signing Wants To Be A Leaf Long Term
Tyler Bertuzzi was one of the main additions by the Leafs this offseason. He was added to provide some toughness and grit to the lineup mixed with his obvious skill. Now a report from an NHL insider confirms that the Leafs and Bertuzzi are looking to be together for the long haul.
Elliotte Friedman on SN590: "I am of the belief that Toronto wanted to sign Tyler Bertuzzi longer and I think Bertuzzi wanted to sign longer but they didn't have the ability to do it now. What does that mean after Jan 1st?"
Due to the fact that Bertuzzi just recently signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he is unable to sign any extensions until after January 1st. This is why in the post above Friedman refers to January 1st as a target date.
