With speculation galore on what the Leafs will do, many believe that there will be a massive trade involving a core 4 member.

Tkachuk Level Trade On The Way For Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs core 4 has been integral to the Leafs' success. This past season, each core 4 member (Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander) registered at least 80 points and was scoring at a point-per-game pace or higher.

However, the core 4 has shown that they do not have what it takes to get the Leafs far with them winning only 1 playoff series as a group and it looks like a change is on the horizon.

If one of these players were to get traded, it will be for a king's ransom and potentially on the level of a Matthew Tkachuk trade. It appears William Nylander is the odd man out here and could be on the way out

Potential Nylander Trades

Toronto Maple Leafs insider, Luke Fox, said this about a potential trade:

«An asset like Marner or Nylander for a bona fide top-pair defenceman and/or a different type of top-six forward that can help in the immediate future, be it through a direct deal or freeing up cap space to get more creative in free agency.»

It is rumored that the Leafs could be targeting players such as Tom Wilson, Nick Schmaltz, Filip Chytil, or Travis Konecny and they could build a trade around that.

For example:

To Toronto: Travis Konecny and Cam York
To Philadelphia: William Nylander

To Toronto: Filip Chytil and K'Andre Miller
To New York: William Nylander and some picks

These trades would help improve the Leafs depth at multiple positions and more evenly disperse the talent resulting in a stronger team despite losing the best player in the deal.
