A massive development has just been revealed regarding Toronto Maple Leafs' rookie Matthew Knies.

Leafs Rookie Matthew Knies On Pace for 20 Goals This Season For Leafs

Matthew Knies is turning out to be an incredible draft pick for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Many were excited to see him enter the NHL after a dominant college career, and he immediately made an impact in the postseason last year when he joined the team.

Entering his first full season with the Leafs, Knies has lived up to and even surpassed expectations. He started on the third line with Domi, however, he quickly earned a promotion to the first line playing with Matthews and Marner. His size and speed are the biggest assets of his game, easily fitting into the NHL's pace.

Now, it has been revealed that he is on pace for a 20-goal season in his rookie year.

Assuming he gets credit for that goal eventually, Matthew Knies is on pace for 22 goals.

Calder Trophy Might Be Out of Reach Given Bedard's Prominance

The Calder Trophy this year is pretty much already locked up with Connor Bedard, as he has 32 points in 34 games so far this year.

However, Knies' scoring pace is no small feat. Here are some other notable rookie seasons.

Makar - 12+38=50 in 2019-20
Kaprizov - 27+24=51 in 2020-21
Seider - 7+43=50 in 2021-22
Beniers - 24+33=57 in 2022-23

Knies is quickly turning out to be a superstar for the Leafs, if he hasn't already made the case of being one.
