Last season, Calle Jarnkrok scored 20 goals for the first time in his career, as the utility forward saw time in the top six forward grouping. Usually, the forward spends his time playing any roster position in the bottom-six forward group.
The reasoning is simple for trading the 32-year-old Calle Jarnkrok: it is to allow younger, cheaper players to play and clear cap space. Jarnkrok is coming off a career-high in goals and points, as well as being a solid-depth NHL player that is respected around the league.
As you can see, it is still a competitive roster, but this one comes in with a lesser cap hit at forward, which can allow the Leafs to invest where needed later.
