Maple Leafs Trade Assets Revealed
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been active in Brad Treliving's first offseason with the organization. After the major signings of John Klingberg, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Max Domi the Leafs still have some holes to fill.
What Valuable Assets Do The Leafs Have?
As far as trades go the Leafs are pretty thin on valuable assets. Currently, most players under an NHL contract are needed to fill crucial roles in the lineup. However, there are a few players and other assets that could be up for grabs.
When it comes to potential trades the biggest candidates to be moved in a deal are Nick Robertson, Connor Timmins, T.J. Brodie, Timothy Liljegren, and their 2024 First-Round Pick.
With these assets, the Leafs could probably bring in an impact player or two. Robertson and Timmins have had turbulent careers so far but are both young still and full of potential. As is Timothy Liljegren who has shown moments of some real high-level ability. T.J. Brodie could provide veteran stability to a team's defense. Then of course First-Round Picks will always be coveted pieces in potential trades.
What About Nylander?
William Nylander is another player who could be available via trade sometime in the future. In a recent interview with Elliotte Friedman, he has said the Leafs are comfortable holding on to Nylander.
I mean, he did score 40 goals last year. He's a really talented guy and in the playoffs, he was involved in a couple of their really successful moments against Tampa Bay. I think they know that and recognize that
This means that at least for now Nylander will not be part of potential trades to fill immediate needs on the roster. If things drag on for too long though we could see the Nylander talks re-emerge.
