Maple Leafs Exploring Option to Sign Veteran Goalie
The Toronto Maple Leafs' goalie situation is a real headache. If everything goes according to plan, Ilya Samsonov should be the number one goalie next season, and Joseph Woll would be second.
To get there, Brad Treliving needs to make several moves, including trading
Matt Murray. He will also need to reach a deal with Samsonov, who recently filed for salary arbitration. His hearing will be on July 21st. We should know more by then.
In the meantime, rumors continue to circulate about the Leafs' goalies, and there's one that we thought is worth exploring.
Two-Time Cup Champion Linked to the Leafs
According to Larry Brooks from the New York Post, Brian Elliott could be on his way to Toronto.
"Jaro Halak, Brian Elliott, Martin Jones, and Thomas Greiss are out there seeking jobs as backups, with Elliott perhaps on his way to Toronto."
Elliott had a difficult season last year, with a passable record of 12-8-2, a terrible .891 SV%, and a 3.40 GAA in 22 games.
However, back in 2021, he had a great year, with a record of 11-4-3, a .912 SV%, and a 2.43 GAA in 19 games.
Elliott, 38, is getting old but can still help a team win.
