Insider Believes the Maple Leafs Have Chosen a Direction With the Core Four
There has been a lot of speculation recently about what will happen with the Leafs' core four but one insider just put the rumors to bed.
Maple Leafs Have Chosen a Direction With the Core Four
The Leafs want to win a cup and NHL insider, Chris Johnston, just revealed how the Leafs intend on doing so.
Chris Johnston: "Brendan Shanahan phoned each of the Leafs top players to share the news about Kyle Dubas.
Those players came away from those conversations under the belief that Shanahan's intentions are to bring the entire core 4 back."
With the belief from the core four that they will be staying in Toronto next year, it will be very surprising if one of the core four is moved.
The Circumstance Where a Core Four Member Gets Moved
There are two circumstances where a core four member gets moved.
The first is if the new GM thinks at least one needs to go for the team to be successful and is able to convince Brendan Shanahan why they should trade one.
The second is far more dire. That would be if Auston Matthews communicates that he wants to leave and then it will result in Matthews being moved or maybe Nylander being moved so Toronto has cap space to offer Matthews a larger contract.
Whether or not one of these happen is totally up in the air and we know that we can never count anything out in Toronto.
