While there was once a time when Leafs Nation considered Erik Kallgren to be their goalie of the future, those times have since passed. The young netminder has since moved on from the organization, now representing the New Jersey Devils.
Kallgren, who is currently playing for the Utica Comets of the AHL, faced the Toronto Marlies last night. While you might think that Kallgren would put on his best performance against his former team, Kallgren didn't appear to be all there last night.
Kallgren fumbled a routine play just 30 seconds into the game, giving the Marlies an early 1-0 lead over the Comets. This would set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Marlies would end up winning 5-2 when it was all said and done.
Despite his tenure with the Leafs coming to an end, Kallgren wasn't that bad during his time with the big club. Through 24 career games with the Maple Leafs, Kallgren posted a .892 save percentage with an average of 3.04 goals against per game.
