Training Camps are quickly coming to a close across the NHL, and the Dallas Stars are gearing up to finalize their roster for the upcoming season. They have just announced another round of cuts from the team, and former Maple Leaf Jordie Benn, unfortunately, did not make it.
Benn was on a Professional Try Out agreement with the Stars and is now a free agent. Being released from a PTO is never a good sign for a player's NHL career, as he is now without a team as organizations around the league finalize their rosters.
Benn spent the beginning of his career with the Stars, from 2011 to 2017, fighting for a roster spot nearly the entire time. He also spent time with the Canadiens, Canucks, Jets, and Wild, before signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs last summer. He Played 12 games with the Leafs last year, scoring 1 goal and 1 assist.
