With all the storylines this Maple Leafs team had this season, some are bound to get lost in the mix. Perhaps none were more heartwarming than Luke Schenn's reunion with the Leafs. It's clear both parties are fond of one another, and it would make sense for Schenn to return next season, but what would it cost Toronto? We might now have a clue.
Leafs Could Get Bargain Deal for Schenn
Experts at the Athletic have predicted what Luke Schenn's contract extension with the Leafs could look like this summer, and it should have Leafs fans excited. They've predicted that Schenn will cost under $2 million a year, coming in for a total of $1.9 million a year over a three-year span.
It makes sense that an aging veteran such as Schenn would be willing to come back on a bargain bin deal to a city he loves, all in the hopes of chasing one last Cup. With his presence being felt so heavily on the Leafs blueline, this seems like a no-brainer.
Schenn Loves Toronto
A player like Schenn, who always elevates his play in the postseason could be a valuable asset for Toronto to have, especially on a more talented roster.
What do you think? Is it worth bringing Schenn back for a grand total of $5.7 million over the next three years?
