Brad Treliving has made his first official appearance since being named the General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The new GM has a lot on his plate as he begins this new challenge, but he reportedly won't be able to participate in one of the NHL's biggest events.

Treliving Barred From the Draft Table

According to a recent report by Elliotte Friedman, Brad Treliving won't be allowed to sit at the Leafs' table on draft night.

The news was unveiled today at Treliving's first press conference as the GM of the Maple Leafs. Leafs' President Brendan Shanahan was present for the event.

Calgary is Concerned About Treliving

This restriction is due to the fact that he has an agreement in place with Calgary, the team he just departed. The agreement is in place to protect Calgary, because Treliving likely has an extensive knowledge of their draft plans.

Whether or not Treliving would share Calgary's plans with Toronto is its own separate question, but it makes sense that Calgary would want to protect its draft knowledge so close to the event.
