Leafs Send Simon Benoit to Marlies After Winning First Game

The Leafs have announced this afternoon that they have loaned defenseman Simon Benoit to the Marlies. The announcement comes after a win against the Canadiens last night in which Benoit did not play.

Benoit was recalled from the Marlies yesterday after Bobby McMan cleared waivers. The defenseman is on a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Leafs that was signed in August. It's likely Benoit will see some time with both the Marlies and the Leafs this season, depending on injuries. Benoit didn't have the most outstanding preseason, taking a trio of penalties in one preseason game.
