A key member of the Toronto Maple Leafs last year signed a contract with an Eastern Conference rival.

Aston-Reese Signs With Carolina

It was just announced that the Carolina Hurricanes have signed Zach Aston-Reese to a PTO.

The #Canes have inked a seventh and final PTO, adding Zach Aston-Reese to their training camp roster.

The 29-year-old skated in 77 games with Toronto during the 2022-23 campaign.

Aston-Reese impressed with the Maple Leafs last season playing in all but five of their regular season games. He was primarily used as a defensive forward who could kill penalties.

While Aston-Reese doesn't let his opponents score, he does not score too often himself posting only 10 goals and 14 points last season.

He will now look to help the Hurricanes on their quest for the Stanley Cup.
