Options emerge as 22 players hit NHL Waivers, with a few veteran NHL players available for free.

Leading the way on waivers is forward Danton Heinen, who has over 500 games of NHL experience and has been in the bottom-six throughout his NHL career.
As well, multiple young players find themselves on the open market, presenting opportunities for teams to look at potential young steals who could surprise as they improve in the next few years, becoming NHL talents.

Complete List of 22 Players Who Hit Waivers Today

22 players were placed on waivers today by their respective NHL clubs, now available to sign with all 31 NHL teams.
Placed on NHL Waivers:
Columbus Blue Jackets - Daemon Hunt
Edmonton Oilers - Cam Dineen, Riley Stillman
Pittsburgh Penguins - Danton Heinen, Joona Koppanen, Sebastian Aho, Phil Kemp, Filip Larsson, Valtteri Puustinen
Seattle Kraken - Ben Meyers, Mitchell Stephens
Vancouver Canucks - Vitali Kravtsov
All 22 players could find themselves potentially on new teams tomorrow, if not sent down to the American Hockey League. Only one player was claimed yesterday in G Phoenix Copley by Tampa from Los Angeles.
One name today could be of serious interest to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a clear connection may make it the perfect opportunity.

Why Ilya Solovyov Could Be on Toronto's Radar

Defenseman Ilya Solovyov is a player who can interest the Toronto Maple Leafs for a few different reasons, and has untapped value that could make him of interest elsewhere as well.
Solovyov, 25, is a player with a strong NHL frame at 6'3 and 209lbs. Solovyov played in five games last season for the Calgary Flames with an assist in that time, and has played in 15 career NHL games with four points.
The Belarusian LHD is a solid skater for his size and has some offensive attributes to his game in terms of puckhandling, but is more of a defensive defenseman who can play a two-way game, although hasn't gotten much opportunity at the NHL level.
The youngster could be an option for Toronto as a 7th defenseman option on the left side, although it's an area less needing of an upgrade than the right side, where Simon Benoit is on the third pair vs Oliver Ekman-Larsson on the left.
Solovyov also has experience with GM Brad Treliving, having been drafted in 2020 under him while Treliving was in the same role with the Calgary Flames.
The waiver claims today could be options for the Toronto Maple Leafs to build their roster and create a winner, but they'd have to act fast and get the player they want, or risk losing out on a free add if they're not quick.
