Steven Stamkos and Auston Matthews make NHL history with their fight
The first round NHL playoff series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning is heating up, just as everyone thought it would. That was very evident Saturday night following a collision along the boards involving the Leafs' Morgan Rielly and the Bolts' Brayden Point.
Following the incident, Steven Stamkos grabbed the Leafs Auston Matthews and the two started throwing punches. Each would get a couple in before falling to the ice and wrestling for a bit. The fight was the first in NHL history between two players who have had 60 goal seasons.
Matthews earned praise from Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe for sticking up for himself. Keefe also felt Stamkos took advantage of the situation by forcing Matthews to fight.
