A few minutes ago, it was confirmed that the San Jose Sharks have placed a surprising player on waivers.
Sharks Place Promising Young Defenseman Leon Gawanke on Waivers to Terminate his Contract

The Sharks officially placed their defenseman Leon Gawanke on waivers with the intention of terminating his contract.
Per Elliotte Friedman:
"Leon Gawanke (SJ) on waivers for purposes to terminate contract"
-
Gawanke played 38 games with the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL this season, the Sharks' affiliate team.
During that time, he scored 27 points, including eight goals.
He hasn't played his first NHL game yet, and it looks like he'll need to wait longer before he gets his chance.
