Report: Erik Karlsson Open to Waiving NMC for a Specific Team
The San Jose Sharks could be sitting on a gold mine with Erik Karlsson. However, he holds the power to choose where he wants to go. His eight-year, $92-million contract came with a full no-move clause, and he will reportedly only waive it for one team.
Karlsson Wants to Go to Only One Team
EK65 is having an incredible season. He's looking at having the first 100-point season from the blueline in 30 years, and that's on a weak San Jose Sharks team.
He's all-offense, so it makes sense he'd want to play with some of the best offensive players of a generation. Thus, it appears his team of choice is the Edmonton Oilers.
Erik Karlsson is apparently open to waiving his NMC to come to Edmonton, per @reporterchris.
Imagine Karlsson with McDavid and Draisaitl. They'd all put up 150 points!
This makes it easy to wonder if this is an informal trade request from San Jose. This could lower his value, as any move involving him will inevitably be a blockbuster.
His $11.5-million cap-hit is massive, but for a 100-point blueliner, it's hard to think it isn't worth it.
Could we have the highest-producing power play unit ever coming to Alberta? We'll just have to wait and see.
