This season has been nothing short of spectacular for veteran defenseman Erik Karlsson. The 32-year old blue-liner has seen a massive bounce back in his production level this season, and finally hit a plateau so few players have the honor of reaching.

Karlsson Joins the 100 Point Club

Karlsson was two points away from the elusive milestone going into the game against the Winnipeg Jets tonight, and with just three games left to achieve his goal, he certainly turned it up a notch. Karlsson opened the scoring for the Sharks just 20 seconds into the game Monday evening, and continued pushing from there.

While fortune wouldn't favor the Sharks for the next two periods, Karlsson didn't give up, and a few short minutes into the third period notched his 100th point of the season. His teammates rejoiced around him, and celebrated this truly amazing career achievement.

Even more impressive, Karlsson is just the 6th defenseman to ever reach this point total, beating out some of the best defenders the NHL has ever seen. The last time a defenseman reached this plateau was Brian Leetch in the 1991-92 season.

While the Sharks playoff hopes may have died a long time ago, their fans finally have something worth smiling over. Congrats Erik!
