Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins have been synonymous for almost two decades now. This makes envisioning him in another uniform incredibly difficult.
The reality is though the Penguins are coming up on the end of their window to compete and will need to decide between rebuilding or going down with the players who brought them cups in the past. While it is unlikely Crosby is traded here is a fun mock trade that would send Sid out west.
This trade would bring together Crosby with Nathan MacKinnon on the Colorado Avalanche. The two are good friends and MacKinnon idolized Crosby growing up so the opportunity to play together would be interesting to both parties
In this scenario, the Penguins get a couple of good young defensemen in former fourth-overall pick Bowen Byram and former first-round pick Samuel Girard.
Along with this Pittsburgh gets to add three first-round picks, one in each of the next three years, to jump-start their rebuild.
