BREAKING: Former Penguin Retires After Being Cut
A former Pittsburgh Penguin has retired from hockey for the final time after being cut by the Edmonton Oilers.
Sutter Retires
It was just announced that Brandon Sutter has retired from hockey after failing to make the Oilers roster out of camp and being cut from his PTO.
The #Oilers have released Brandon Sutter from his professional tryout (PTO) & the veteran forward has announced his retirement from hockey.
Brandon Sutter is retiring after a 770 game NHL career. He had been in camp with the #oilers on a PTO, but says he wasn't completely healthy and wanted to do right by his family.
Sutter spent three years in Pittsburgh playing 209 games and registering 78 points along the way. Unfortunately, he was never able to win a cup with the Penguins.
He was a major part of the Jordan Staal trade the Penguins made with the Carolina Hurricanes.
We congratulate him on a fantastic career and wish him all the best in his next chapter of life.
