When he was officially named the general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers, Danny Briere told reporters change was coming. He's not wasting any time.

Decisions

According to the latest report, Briere has decided not to extend qualifying offers to three pending restricted free agents.

This makes all of them able to sign anywhere on July 1st. The group of three includes former first-round pick Kieffer Bellows.

Bellows was picked up from the waiver wire from the New York Islanders in October of 2022. Despite lots of potential, he has not been able to find solid footing in the NHL.

Wyatte Wylie is a defenceman drafted in the 5th round in 2018. He has yet to play in the NHL. Evan Barrett is a former draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks. He has also never suited up in the NHL.

Tolling the Contract

As for "tolling the contract" of goaltender Ivan Fedotov, the Flyers are able to pause the one-year deal signed last year in order to wait until he makes the transition to North America, if that ever happens.

Shortly after signing a contract with Philadelphia, Fedotov, who had been playing in the KHL, was whisked away by the Russian army for mandatory military service. Whether he ever makes it out of Russia to play for the Flyers is anyone's guess.
