Rangers rookie Matt Rempe has become quite controversial in his short ten-game stint in the NHL. Last Night he was ejected for elbowing a Devils defenseman.

Rangers Rookie Suspended Four Games For Dirty Hit To Head

Last night, Rangers rookie center Matt Rempe was ejected after he elbowed Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in the head. This is the rookie's second match penalty, both coming on hits against Devils players. His previous hit on Nathan Bastian resulted in an ejection, but did not get him a a suspension.
The Department of Player Safety made the announcement this afternoon.
This has resulted in Devils fans harassing the rookie online.

Devils Fans Go After Rangers Rookie On Social Media

Rempe has certainly become a villain for Devils fans. But some fans have taken things to far. They have reportedly been harassing Rempe and his family online.
#NJDevils fans harassing Rempe, his sister, and talking shit on his dead dad just goes to show how they're the worst humans and fanbase out there. Pathetic.

Fans went so far as to call for a career-ending injury to happen to him and make fun of his deceased father.
Obviously, this kind of behavior is unacceptable. That being said, Rempe's suspension might teach him a lesson. Hopefully he doesn't make these kinds of hits a regular part of his game.
