The New York Rangers have officially hired their franchise's next head coach. The news comes after weeks and weeks of speculation as to who they might hire.
It has just been announced that the New York Rangers have officially hired former Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette as their team's next head coach. The news was first reported by insider Elliotte Friedman, and just now made official by the team.

Laviolette had a very impressive record as head coach of the Capitals but was let go after failing to make the playoffs for the first time in his stint with the Caps this season.
New York recently parted ways with Head Coach Gerard Gallant, so a move was expected, but this process has been dragged out for quite a while.
