Things got heated between New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes and LA Kings forward Viktor Arvidsson in last nights game.

A Thursday Night Tilt

The Devils held a record of 27-21-4 and the Kings a record of 24-16-10 coming into this game. Both teams currently sitting in Wild Card Playoff positions, these post-All Star Game, games meaning even more as we enter the final half of the regular NHL season.

Ultimately, the Devils would lose to the Kings by a score of 2-1.

Hughes v.s. Arvidsson

Late in the second period, the two players got tangled up near the benches when Arvidsson catches Hughes with an elbow. A scrum ensues and ends with Arvidsson getting a 2 minute minor penalty for elbowing & Hughes receiving 2 minutes for roughing.

On their way to the penalty box the twe are seen screaming at each other. This continues in the box where Jack says:

"People pay to watch me play."

This statement most likely comes from Hughes being drafted first overall in the 2019 NHL Draft and Arvidsson being selected in the 4th round of the 2014 draft by the Nashville Predators.

The Aftermath of Jack Hughes' Taunting

After the matching 2 minute minor penalties, both players exit the box and Hughes picks up the puck while being harassed by Arvidsson. Ultimately, no penalty was called on this. Below is Hughes' reaction.

The New Jersey Devils and LA Kings face off again on March 3rd in Los Angeles.
