He's recovering from hip surgery that will keep him off the ice for four to six months. He's not expected to play in the NHL until December.
Meanwhile, rumors about where he could end up are circulating everywhere, and the latest one is quite interesting.
Kane Linked to Oilers
Rumors of Kane joining Edmonton have been circulating for more than a year.
They were put off because the Oilers didn't really need a top-6 forward, and they couldn't afford him under his previous $10.5 million-a-year contract.
But now, he's expected to sign for a much lower price, considering his age and health.
If he accepts a short-term, low-salary contract, the Oilers would probably be more than interested.
Even at 34 years old and with his injury, he can still contribute a lot to a team.
The opportunity to play with Connor McDavid doesn't present itself often. If he gets it, don't be surprised if he jumps on it.
