Report: Flyers Carter Hart heading to the Edmonton Oilers marks a massive potential strategic shift for the team

Carter Hart is one of the best young goaltenders in the NHL and he could be heading out from Philadelphia to a struggling Canadian team.

Edmonton's Slow Start In Net With Stuart Skinner And Jack Campbell

To say the Oilers goaltending has been lackluster this season would be an understatement. Stuart Skinner and Jack Campbell have not been living up to expectations and with GM Ken Holland deciding to send Jack Campbell to AHL it seems clear that a change is needed.




While Calvin Pickard does have NHL experience, he is likely not the answer in the net for Edmonton. Insider Ryan Rishaug has been following the situation closely and has provided some major insight into what is to come from Edmonton.

Goaltender Carter Hart To The Edmonton Oilers Via Blockbuster Trade?

One of the top options for the Oilers to target via trade is Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart. Originally a draft pick in 2016, Hart is only 25 and is already entering his sixth season in the NHL. He has shown flashes of brilliance like in his rookie year where he posted a .917 SV% looking like a potential future Vezina winner. However, he has played on some poor teams since and has seen his statistics suffer as a result of that.

Insider Anthony DiMarco has hinted at the idea of Hart being the perfect fit for Edmonton:



A Hart for Campbell swap would certainly require Edmonton to add a bunch but if they were able to pull things off, we could see Hart become the sparkplug that Edmonton desperately needs.
