This mock trade is definitely a blockbuster - with two of the best players in the league involved. The cost to acquire a player of Connor McDavid's calibre will be extreme, but with the Oilers fizzling out in the playoffs, and the Maple Leafs looking to hit that next level, this deal could be a match made in heaven.
The two main pieces in the deal would be McDavid, and Mitch Marner. Marner is one of the more underrated players in the league, and has emerged as one of the better two-way players in the sport. He's arguably the best winger in the league at this point, and would be a great starting point for a McDavid deal.
Also included in the deal would be 2021 pick Matthew Knies, who will in all likelihood be a competent middle-six power winger, defenseman TJ Brodie, and two first round picks.
