All eyes have been on the Oilers to start the season, and not for good reason. The team is off to one of the worst starts in recent history, which is especially concerning as they were touted as a potential Stanley Cup Champion for this season. Last night, they dropped another game to the last place San Jose Sharks, which had many speculating that Jay Woodcroft would be fired.
Recent reports, however, have revealed that Woodcroft is safe, at least for now, as reported by TSN's Ryan Rishaug.
Oilers fans are not happy with the performance, especially as their star players Leon Draisatil and Connor McDavid get closer and closer to becoming free agents. The time to win in Edmonton is right now, and it looks like they are digging themselves a hole that they won't be able to get out of.
If the Oilers fail to make the playoffs this season, heads will roll in Edmonton, and starts could even want out.
