Edmonton Oilers Head Coaching Change: It is now believed that Canadian Ice Hockey Coach Jay Woodcroft will not get fired today
After last night's terrible loss, many speculated that Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft would be fired, however, recent reports indicate that may no longer be the case.
Woodcroft Safe From Being Fired At Least In the Immediate Term
All eyes have been on the Oilers to start the season, and not for good reason. The team is off to one of the worst starts in recent history, which is especially concerning as they were touted as a potential Stanley Cup Champion for this season. Last night, they dropped another game to the last place San Jose Sharks, which had many speculating that Jay Woodcroft would be fired.
Recent reports, however, have revealed that Woodcroft is safe, at least for now, as reported by TSN's Ryan Rishaug.
No coaching change expected in Edmonton today or tomorrow
Oilers Fans Are Calling for a New GM and New Coach
Oilers fans are not happy with the performance, especially as their star players Leon Draisatil and Connor McDavid get closer and closer to becoming free agents. The time to win in Edmonton is right now, and it looks like they are digging themselves a hole that they won't be able to get out of.
Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl Edmonton Oilers are now tied with Filip Zadina and the San Jose Sharks for dead last in the NHL.
5 points. 30 days into the season. Hard to believe SJ lost its first 11 games and are now tied with Edmonton in standings.
The math for the Oilers is incredibly steeplast year in West it took 95 points to make the playoffs. Oilers need to go 45-25 to reach 95 points. It's a big hill to climb. Do able but steep
If the Oilers fail to make the playoffs this season, heads will roll in Edmonton, and starts could even want out.
