Jamie Benn has been suspended by the NHL following his actions during Tuesday night's game between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights. The verdict comes after a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
Benn Suspended for 2 Games
Jamie Benn has received a two-game suspension for cross-checking Vegas Captain Mark Stone in the head. Benn received a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play, and will now miss the next two games as a result of his actions.
The Department of Player Safety came out with an official statement just now, announcing the suspension. Dallas will be without their captain for the next _ games, so they better adjust accordingly.
Benn is a Repeat Offender
This isn't the first time Benn has pulled antics like this. Last season, Benn delivered an incredibly dangerous cross-check to the face of Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin, seriously injuring him on the play. That incident received no supplemental discipline from the league.
With Dallas down 3-0 in their Western Conference Finals matchup against Vegas, all Benn's actions do is further handicap them. Not a great way to lead by example.
