The Chicago Blackhawks made a big move today as they signed prospect Landon Slaggert to his first NHL contract.

Blackhawks Sign Forward Prospect To Entry-Level Deal

Slaggert had been playing with Notre Dame in the NCAA this season. He has served as an assistant captain for the team in each of his two seasons there. Last night however, the team was unfortunately eliminated from the NCAA Big Ten tournament, leaving Slaggert open to signing his entry-level contract with the Blackhawks. That is exactly what the team did today.

Blackhawks Head coach Kyle Davidson addressed the media about the 3rd round pick, talking about a few aspects he likes about his game and how he developed over the last two seasons.

Slaggert had 20 goals and 31 points in 36 games this year with Notre Dame. That included a two-point effort last night when his team was ultimately eliminated with a 4-3 loss to the University of Michigan.
