ESPN has released its projections for the 2023-24 season and the disrespect for Sidney Crosby is unreal.

ESPN Embarasses Crosby

Everybody in the hockey world knows that Connor Bedard is a generational prospect. He is the best prospect since McDavid and McDavid was the best prospect since Crosby.

With Bedard being so hyped up, many are excited to see what he does in his rookie year. ESPN projected him for 90 points as a rookie which is crazy but not as what they projected for Crosby.

Bedard Over Crosby?

Crosby being projected for 89 points is mind-numbing for many reasons. While he had a down year last year with the Penguins with only 93 points, his teammates were all generally struggling.

Kyle Dubas went out and acquired the best possible player he could add and traded for Erik Karlsson who just put up 102 points. ESPN's projection for Karlsson was 97 points which means they expect Crosby to not lead the Penguins in points.

Bedard on the other hand will have Taylor Hall and Seth Jones as his best teammates who while great players in their own right, are not up to snuff with Malkin and Karlsson.

It is likely time that people start cooling their expectations for Bedard and stop sleeping on Crosby as he is still one of the best players in the game and a relative down year would be the pinnacle of so many other star's careers.
