Blackhawks Confirm Connor Bedard's Fate for the Season
We now know the fate of Connor Bedard this season following a move the Blackhawks made today.
Bedard To Lose Year On ELC
The Chicago Blackhawks get into some more action tonight against the Florida Panthers for their 10th game of the season. With it being the 10th game, it means that the rookies that have played in all of the games so far will have the first year of their entry-level contracts burned.
Connor Bedard and
Kevin Korchinski both play their 10th game tonight in Chicago, officially triggering the first year of their entry-level contracts.
If Bedard or Korchinski were to have sat out tonight, they could have their contract slide down to next season. While it was unlikely that this would have been the case, we have seen teams have their top pick's contracts slide like
Shane Wright last season.
What ensured that Bedard would stay the entire year in Chicago was his fast start this year. Through his first nine games, Bedard scored four goals and tacked on two additional assists.
This now means that Bedard's contract will expire in 2026 and once it is up, he will have an opportunity to get a massive pay raise.
