This afternoon it has been announced that a player from the 2018 Canadian World Juniors team has been placed on waivers.

World Junior Team Player Placed On Waivers One Day After Signing

The Carolina Hurricanes made major news yesterday by signing forward Maxime Comtois to a one-year two-way deal. Comtois had been out of the NHL all season and this looked to be his chance to get a call-up.
The #hurricanes have signed Max Comtois to a two-way contract for the remainder of the year that carries a $775,000 cap hit at the NHL level.

Comtois has 12 goals and 28 points in 45 games with AHL Chicago this year.

Despite being signed less than 24 hours ago Comtois now finds himself on waivers and could be claimed by a new team at any moment.
Maxime Comtois name will be on waivers tomorrow. @Canes don't have a AHL team, so he'll still play in Chicago until he'll be called up.

Comtois has been playing for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL and will likely stay there until called up by the Hurricanes. Comtois has struggled to produce in his recent NHL opportunities in other places for various reasons.
