This afternoon a strange move has been made by the Edmonton Oilers as they have placed a 1000-game NHL veteran on waivers just days before the trade deadline.

This afternoon the Edmonton Oilers have made a shocking roster move placing forward Sam Gagner on waivers.
This move comes as a surprise to many because Gagner had been playing well as a depth piece for the Oilers throughout the year.
Sam Gagner has been placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers. That's an interesting move in our eyes. Gagner was very good bottom-six forward in those games in which he played this season.
Some believe that this move could be setting the Oilers up to pursue a trade as they currently have no extra players in their lineup.
