This move comes as a surprise to many because Gagner had been playing well as a depth piece for the Oilers throughout the year.
Sam Gagner has been placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers. That's an interesting move in our eyes. Gagner was very good bottom-six forward in those games in which he played this season.
Some believe that this move could be setting the Oilers up to pursue a trade as they currently have no extra players in their lineup.
With Sam Gagner going on waivers, the Oilers will not have any extra players if he gets sent down. Seems like a trade is coming soon.
