The Russian junior team was seated at the back of the plane, smoking cigarettes, not wearing any masks, and not listening to the flight attendants who were probably begging them to stop.

According to Dr. Kathleen Scherf, police swarmed the plane and forced all passengers to exit while the Russian junior team was evacuated along with their luggage.
Two hours late so far on Calgary to Frankfurt flight. The Russian Juniors team was in back, trying to smoke cigarettes, not wearing masks, not listening to attendants. Cops swarmed the plane. We all had to get off while they and their luggage were removed.

According to another source, it was not the players who broke the regulations aboard the plane, but rather the Russian junior team officials. Regardless of who was really responsible, these accounts appear to reinforce the idea that drinking, smoking, and refusal to wear a face mask appear to be the source of the problem.
Hermann stated that the Russian and Czech teams had been removed from the plane, but she emphasized that many of the players had properly behaved.
Both the Czech and Russian JVM teams have been rejected from our plan. And will not be allowed to go to Frankfurt.
Drinking, smoking, and refusing to wear a face mask are some of the reasons. Refusing to wear a mask is a crime in Canada.
The Finnish team can go along.
