Holland has reportedly been in contact with Mike Babcock. Both men are close, as they worked together in Detroit back in the good days of the Red Wings.
Babcock was previously the highest-paid head coach in the NHL, but today he coaches the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Babs agreed earlier in 2021 to replace Dave Adolph, who retired in April after 28 years with the programme.
Despite the backlash he received for his treatment of players in Detroit and with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Holland said earlier this month on the Cam and Strick podcast that he would suggest Babcock to other teams.
The NHL has changed in the last 15 years, and Babcock did not do everything perfectly, but Holland remembered wonderful moments with Babs and his passion, and he stood by his recommendation for a job again in the NHL.
